On December 30, 2020, I walked into Stretch Zone Greenville looking for back relief and help with my golf game. Before getting assigned a stretch practitioner, I met with Stretch Zone's general manager, Bennett, and was immediately drawn to his infectious personality. It turns out he was drawn to my personality too and rearranged his schedule to happen to have a "free" block every Monday at 4:00 when I'd come in for my appointment. He'd pull up a stool each week and we'd chat and laugh through those 30 minutes. We quickly found out we had a very similar quirky sense of humor that just "clicked." Despite trying to keep my guard up, and not seeing the bottom of his face (due to Covid Pandemic mask requirements), I developed a huge crush. I began to refer to Bennett as "My Crush at Stretch Zone" and my family and friends heard about him often over the next 2 months of my appointments. My subscription was going to expire the following month and I became worried that I wouldn't see "My Crush at Stretch Zone" anymore. I knew Bennett was too professional to ask a customer for their number, so I took matters into my own hands! After my good friend Kyle convinced me that my idea of giving Bennett my business card wasn't going to give Bennett the hint I wanted him to text me- "because boys are stupid"-, we decided I needed to ask him to play on our kickball team instead. I had 20 seconds of insane courage one session and asked Bennett and my stretch practitioner to join our team- forcing Bennett to get my number! He texted me a few hours later with a smooth pick up line- asking if he had to wait until kickball season to see me outside of the studio. That text began our forever! We went on our first date to Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack and the Greenville Swamp Rabbits hockey game on February 27, 2021 (and FINALLY saw each other's full face mask-free!) Then, we did start kickball together that April and continue to play on the same team today. We created several fun memories in Greenville before he moved back home to Rock Hill, SC in September 2021 to pursue a business opportunity. Over the next 4 years, we traveled I-85 between the two cities often and learned to really cherish the quality time we had together. Long distance challenged us and grew us as we remained committed to each other while chasing our career goals in separate cities. Thankfully, in September 2025, Bennett (& our beloved dog, PJ) moved back to Greenville, SC! On a rainy December evening, when I thought we were going to watch football with a friend, Bennett shocked me that it was FINALLY happening, and all I could say was "Oh My Gosh!" on repeat. He had planned a private proposal to be followed by a surprise celebration with some of our closest friends and family. It was perfect, and I am so grateful for this love story we get to continue to live out. Our love story is a daily reminder of the Goodness of God over my life, Bennett's life, and our future life as One. We can't wait to celebrate our marriage with our favorite people on September 4, 2026!
